UPDATE - I know there has been a lot of talk about whether this coupon is intended for just Clairol hair dye or for truly ANY Clairol product….Although I have always known to not go by the image and only go by the wording because that is what the retailer is going to get reimbursed on, I am a little confused with this coupon! I am also confused with Clariol’s response about this coupon. They have stated on their Facebook page (see image below) that the coupon is for the hair dye but then they also state to give it a try and see if it works…..Hmmm….I am baffled and still waiting for a response from them IF the retailer is going to get reimbursed because obviously if they aren’t, you would never want to use this coupon on an Herbal Essence product.

I will update if they respond about the retailer getting reimbursed.

For now, I would say to not use this coupon on this product. So sorry for the confusion.

Wowie! Today’s 7/7 newspaper is going to have a HOT coupon in it for $5/2 ANY Clairol product! If you look at the Herbal Essence bottles, they say it is a Clairol product (see the image above). This coupon has a picture of hair dye but it does say ANY Clairol product (and like I always say, you can’t go by the picture on the coupon you have to go by the wording). With that being said, you can pick up 2 FREE Herbal Essence hair products form CVS starting tomorrow 7/7!

CVS Deal plan:

Buy 2 Herbal Essence shampoo 2/$5
Use $5/2 Clairol product coupon 7/7 P&G
= 2 FREE!

Thanks, Victoria!

Ok, I got this pg booklet for free and so I got like 6 !! My question is, since there is also a $1.00 off two herbal essences coupon… Can I also use it and have 1 dollar overage? I don’t know if cvs accepts overage

    • Rebeca says

No you cannot stack those two coupons- they one is $5 off 2 products- therefore it attaches to both products- it is like 2 $2.50 off 1 coupons attached if its easier to think of it like that

    • Lauren says

you can use one CPN per every two items purchased in this deal. you cannot stack coupons unless one is a store coupon and one a manufacturer coupon. hope that helps..

  2. At Family Dollar you can get 2/$6, but you also get a $2 receipt coupon says

At Family Dollar you can get 2/$6, but you also get a $2 receipt coupon so it is essentially a $1 money maker :)

That is an interesting response from Clairol. I looked over it and noticed on the coupon it states, excluded trail/travel size….. so you would think that would be for any Clairol product especially since Hair color doesn’t come in a travel/trial size to the best of my knowledge, so why would they put that disclaimer on there if it wasn’t intended for use with other Clairol products?

okay ladies i dont see why you cant use the 5/2 clairol products coupon as well as stack it with a 1$ off coupon of the shampoo and conditioner coupon itself have checked cvs coupon policy and they specifically state “The number of manufacturer coupons used in a transaction may not exceed the number of items in the transaction ” . so she is using the 5/2 for one item and the 1$ off for the other item her coupons do not exceed her transaction items so there for it truly is up to the stores discretion

the cvs policy states “it MAY NOT EXCEED” assuming your coupons are off 1 item only. it is different when ur coupon states its off 2 or 3.. for example. u cannot use 3 of the $3/3 tide coupons on just 3 tides. u would need to buy 9 to use 3 of them or the register will beep and say u don’t have enough items. Unless the tide coupon states $3/1 u cannot use 3 of them on just 3 tides. same concept for the $5/2 and $1/1.

I ended up not using the extra $1/2 coupon because I had problems with my cvs. I did however get 12 herbal essences for free with the $5/2 coupon…. I’m sure if my cvs had been right and told me it they did accept overage, I would have paid 6 dollars less from my total purchase, which was$16. I still got 12 herbal essences, 4 boxes tampons, 4 boxes pads and a small dawn for 16 so it was still amazing. I do feel cheated out of the $6 though lol Next time, I know which cvs to go to that won’t give me problems. The first cvs just straighy ouy refused to honor ir, the second gave me a limit of two $5/2 coupons. It wasn’t until my 3rd cvs. The coupons scan without a problem so give it a try, I’m sure the cashiers will do it.

Just to clarify… i didn’t go out and got 12 free shampoos and conditioners knowing there was this controversy on the coupons I actually woke up really early this morning to do it (before they ran out) Once I came back home to hear abouy othet’s trips on this thread, I saw what had happened. It was too late for me to even chicken out, because if I had seen this first I most likely wouldn’t have gone out and done this, I would feel like all CVS employees would be after me. I hope the retailers do get reimbursed and that PG gets better wording on coupons.

I did the same thing Mel. I saw this late last night and went out this morning and got them. If I had seen the corrected post I would not have went out and used it on the shampoo. Now I feel bad about it. I don’t get on Facebook till late at night and have to look at all the couponing sites then. I am new to it so when I see things like this posted I try to get it. I am trying to learn how to get the better deals.

I did go to CVS and this deal indeed work for me. so I had 4 of these coupons and got 8 bottles FREE! =) So here in Mooresville, NC it works.

  8. Liz says

I just checked the clairol Facebook page and under one persons post they did say that since its their mistake for not clarifying that its for hair due they will honor the $5 off coupon on the herbal essence.

Clairol: ” Hi Ladies-Thank you for reaching out regarding the $5 off of 2 Clairol products coupon in Sunday’s newspaper and we sincerely apologize for any confusion it may have caused. It was our intent that the coupon be good for $5 off of any 2 Clairol hair color products. Herbal Essences is marketed separately under the Herbal Essences brand name, and the coupon for the shampoo & conditioner was found on the page following our Clairol coupon. However, we understand that the wording of the coupon does not clarify hair color and want to reassure you that we fully will take responsibility and will honor the redemptions that have come through. However, we hope that our original intent of offering $5 off of any 2 Clairol hair color products is recognized, so that we can continue to provide value offers in the future. Thank you for reaching out to us first for clarity. ^Renee”

I used 4 of these and asked if they would get reimbursed, and yes they do. It’s just up to the store to honor/take them. I say go for it.
