5 Ways To Save Money When Eating Out

Cooking and cleaning can be a lot of work when you are doing it  every night for a big or small family. Because of that sometimes its necessary to have a night out and go out for dinner, whether it be with the kids or with your other half. But just because you head out for dinner, doesn’t mean that it has to break the bank. You can still have a great dinner night out and stay within the budget by using a few simple tips. Check out the 5 ways below to save money when eating out:

  1. Coupons: Before you head out for your next meal out, try to search for some dining coupons! Depending when and where your going, restaurants will offer coupons to take a percentage off your meal or sometimes offer a buy 1 get 1 special on for your group.  These can be well worth it when dining with a big family.
  2. Facebook: It might sound weird that Facebook plays a part in your dining experience, but it does! Make sure to like the restaurant that you are heading to on Facebook or Twitter. Most times when offers, specials or discounts come up they will be posted on their social media first.
  3. Share: A great way to save money when eating out is to share plates that are big enough for two! If you ask your server, most times they will split one meal on to two plates. You will not only save money on your overall bill, you will also be reducing wasted food that doesn’t get eaten.
  4. Water: If you can avoid purchasing items such as a soft drink or an alcoholic drink, you might just be surprised at your bill total! Drinks can really add up, especially if refills aren’t free. If you want to cut some corners, stick with water as your drink of choice to save a few dollars.
  5. Eat Early: If you’re not set on a late dinner, eat earlier! This can be a cheaper dining experience overall as restaurants will usually run happy hour specials on food and drinks. They also may have a late lunch menu available that contains the same or similar items to dinner at a lower cost.

  1. I carry Mio drops in my purse.

  2. The Foursquare app is also good. You check in places you go to and sometimes there are specials. I’ve gotten free coffee at Quality Dairy and free beverages and free cheesecake at Fazoli’s for checking in. Not every place offers a discount or special, but the app allows you to search for specials.

  3. i just learned of a new app – SnipSnap. i always seem to forget my restuarant coupons but now i never have to. i can either snap them myslef & save them, or simply Discover them within the app & save them. i can’t wait to try it!!!
