5 Ways To Declutter Your Home
It can be easy to get in the habit of hanging on to everything and getting rid of nothing. Whether an item has a special meaning, memory or moment attached to it, we can usually find a reason to keep it around. However, if we really look closely at what we own, most times we can find things that can be thrown away, donated or sold. Decluttering is a great thing to do on a monthly basis and makes it easier to bring new things into the home. Check out the list below for 5 ways to declutter your home:
- Fill A Bag: To quickly declutter rooms on a regular basis, try this method. Grab a garbage bag and walk around each room in the house. Find items that can be donated or sold and throw away anything that is garbage or unneeded. This will constantly keep clutter to a bare minimum.
- Clear The Counters: A big place clutter can appear is on kitchen counters and table tops. Take 5 minutes every couple of days and clear off the surfaces in your kitchen and dining area. This will make cooking and food prep a breeze as you will have more space to work with.
- 5 Things: A great way to combat clutter around the entire house is to make sure to put 5 things away each day. Put away 5 things in the house that may be out of place or left out. This will cut down the time you spend cleaning and keep the house looking refreshed.
- Maybe Box: If you have items you’re not sure about keeping, create a maybe box. Gather those items up and set them in a box. Give yourself a deadline of a few days to think about these items. If you need them, make sure they have a place in your home, if not donate or sell them for extra room.
- Drawer Clean: One of the biggest places for clutter is drawers in the home. Get into the habit of pulling out a drawer and organizing it. Keep what belongs in the drawer, relocated items that don’t belong and throw away any junk. Do this to different drawers on a regular basis to stay ahead of the game.
