  • 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal (divided)
  • 2 bags of regular size marshmallows (divided)
  • 3 tablespoons of butter (divided)
  • food coloring gel (orange and yellow)
  • loaf pan
  • parchment or waxed paper

Instructions

  1. Spray your loaf pan so your rice krispies won't stick to it. You will also want to grab a square of parchment or waxed paper and spray it with the non-stick spray so you can press your rice krispies into the pan without getting all sticky. You will be making three batches of rice krispies treats so that you can make every color included in the candy corn. So let me tell you how to divide up your ingredients.
  2. The first color you will want to make is yellow. Take one tablespoon of butter and put it in a small sauce pan with 15 marshmallows and melt on low heat being careful not to burn it. Then you will add in some yellow food coloring gel until you have your desired color of yellow. Once the mixture is melted, mix quickly in a medium bowl with 2 cups rice krispies cereal. Press the mixture lightly into the bottom of the loaf pan.
  3. Repeat step two but use orange food gel this time. Add color until you get an orange that is close to the color of the orange in the candy corn. You will then need to press the orange rice krispies on top of the yellow.
  4. Repeat step two again except do not add any coloring to this layer. Once complete press onto the top of the orange kripsies in the loaf pan.
  5. It is very important to let the Rice Krispies cool completely before cutting or it will fall apart on you. Once they are completely cooled gently flip over the loaf pan and the rice krispies should fall out of the pan onto your cutting board.
  6. Take a knife and very carefully cut the "loaf" of rice krispies into thirds. Flip the strip of Rice Krispies onto its side and cut into triangle shapes. You will need to fiddle just a little with each triangle to help them keep their triangle shape. Just press in on the sides a little bit until they look like perfect little candy corn bites. Grab a glass of milk and enjoy!
