Easy, No Fuss Caramel Sauce

There is nothing better than warm caramel sauce over desserts like ice cream or sundaes. However, caramel sauce can make almost any dessert that much better. It’s perfect for cheese cakes, cookie toppings, and even as a sweetener for your morning coffee. The only downside is store bought caramel sauces can be packed with extra unnecessary ingredients and can easily rack up the grocery bill. So why not make your own, save some money and customize your sauce to be exactly how you like it! Check out the recipe below to make your own easy, no fuss caramel sauce.

If you love caramel recipes, head over to see our 10+ Delicious Caramel Recipes, our No Bake Snickers Caramel Apple Pie, our Caramel Apple Cupcakes, our Cream Caramel Apples, our Starbucks Caramel Frappuccino Cupcakes, our Caramel Brownies with Homemade Frosting and our Chocolate Caramel Cheesecake Trifle!

Ingredients Needed:

  • 1 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Of  Evaporated Milk
  • 4 Tablespoons Of Butter
  • 1 Tablespoon Of Vanilla Extract
  • Pinch Of Salt (Optional)

Instructions:

  1. Add all ingredients except for the vanilla into a small sauce pan and mix over medium heat.
  2. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring constantly until texture becomes thick.
  3. Next, add the vanilla and stir it in until mixed well.
  4. Remove from heat, cool until warm and pour into the container of your choice.  Once cooled, it is ready to use! In a sealed container this sauce will last up to 5-7 days in the fridge.

Yummy! I love making scented play dough because it sure smells a lot better than the normal salty kind. Just be careful because the little ones like to try to eat it (although I did this with the normal kind when I was little). 😉 Below you will find directions to make 2 different scents. Enjoy!

DIY Play Dough

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup Flour
  • 2 tsp Cream of Tartar
  • 1/2 cup Salt
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • Food Coloring (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In a Medium Sized Pan whisk together your Flour, Salt and Cream of Tartar
  2. Add Water and Oil.
  3. Add Food Coloring if desired.
  4. Wisk until you have a smooth consistency with no lumps.
  5. Place your pan over low heat and stir constantly until your mixture thickens. This will take 3-5 minutes and you will need a strong arm. When you have a big ball/lump, your dough is finished.
  6. Knead your dough for a minute or two.
  7. Store in a Sealed container.

Gingerbread Scented Play Dough

  1. Just add these ingredients into the above dry ingredients
  2. 1 1/2 tsp Ginger
  3. 2 tsp Cinnamon
  4. 1/2 tsp Cloves
  5. 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
  6. Add 1/2 tsp Vanilla and blue, yellow and red food coloring into the wet ingredients until you have a brown color before placing on heat.

Peppermint Scented Play Dough
Just add 1/2 tsp peppermint extract and red food coloring into the above wet ingredients before placing on heat.

Below is a list of 750+ FREE Pumpkin Carving Stencils (Disney, Star Wars, Angry Birds, Celebrities and more!)! We use these every single year and make really fun pumpkins. It’s so much fun to let everyone pick out their favorite and they are actually very easy to do.

We will usually tape the stencil onto the pumpkin and use a pen to trace over the stencil (you will need to press hard as no ink will actually get on the pumpkin but it will create an indent so you can see what you did). Then take the stencil off and outline the indent you created again with the pen, then start carving! Here’s another tip, you can use a sponge and a little water (not too much or the pumpkin will mold) to clean off any pen marks left after carving.

Have fun…

When it comes to the Holidays, I love them oh so much but the food prep idea stresses me out. We like to eat the same thing every year but have made it a tradition to try out a new side dish or two every year. If you’re looking for an outstanding and extremely delicious cookie recipe, you’ve come to the right place! I recommend bookmarking this recipe because you will be coming back for more. These caramel apple cookies are so full of flavor and the frosting is delicious. They take a little work but are actually very easy to make and totally worth it. Enjoy!

CARAMEL APPLE COOKIES

Yields: 2 dozen cookies

Prep Time: 25 minutes | Bake Time: 12 minutes

Ingredients:

Cookies:

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

2 small Granny Smith apples, peeled and chopped

1 tablespoon lemon juice

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup packed light brown sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ cup (scant, remove 1 tablespoon) frozen apple juice concentrate, thawed but still cold

Frosting:

½ cup packed light brown sugar

¼ cup butter

2 ½ tablespoons apple juice concentrate

1/8 teaspoon salt

2 ½ cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon water

½ cup finely chopped pecans

2

Directions:

For Cookies:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg for 20 seconds, set aside.
  3. Place peeled and chopped apples in food processor. Pulse a few times to chop coarsely – creating very small chunks. In a small bowl, combine finely chopped apple (including juices from the apples) and lemon juice, set aside. 3
  4. In the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, blend together butter and brown sugar until creamy – scrape down sides of bowl and bottom of bowl, occasionally. 4
  5. Mix in egg and vanilla extract. Add half of the flour mixture, and then (with mixer running on low speed), slowly add in apple juice concentrate, and remaining half of flour mixture. Add apple and lemon mixture. Scoop dough with a tablespoon and drop onto parchment paper lined baking sheets – placing cookies 2-inches apart. Bake in preheated oven 11-12 minutes. Cook on baking sheet before transferring to wire rack to completely cool. 5 6

For Frosting:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter, apple juice concentrate and salt. 7
  2. Heat mixture over medium heat and cook, whisking constantly until sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar until smooth. Spread over cookies, and immediately sprinkle with pecans as frosting sets quickly.

Notes: As frosting cools, it will thicken – so add ½ tsp. warm water at a time to thin as needed for a more spreadable consistency. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature.

Candy corn milkshakes?! YES, please! I know this may sound like bad idea but trust me, these milkshakes are the bomb. 😉 My kids beg me to make them so I figured I’d share the recipe since it’s almost Halloween. If you want to enjoy a yummy treat or just impress some guests (these look really cool) then you will want to do this next recipe. Enjoy!

Candy Corn Milkshakes

Ingredients:

  • 1 Quart Vanilla Ice Cream
  • 1 Quart Orange Sherbet
  • Whipped Cream or Cool Whip
  • Yellow Food Coloring 1

Directions:

  • Let your vanilla ice cream soften for about 25 minutes outside of the freezer. After the ice cream is softened take 1/3 of the ice cream and put it into a bowl and put the quart of vanilla ice cream back in the freezer. Add yellow food coloring to the ice cream in the bowl until the desired shade is obtained. Mix well. 2
  • Take your orange sherbet out of the freezer to allow it to start softening.
  • Fill your milkshake glasses with yellow ice cream into the bottoms, filling the cups about 1/3 full.I used this dessert decorator with no tip to put the softened ice cream in. It makes it so much easier and less messy. 3
  • Wipe down the inside of the cups with a paper towel to remove ice cream streaks. Place your cups in the freezer for 5-10 minutes to let the yellow layer harden a little.
  • Take your vanilla ice cream out of the freezer again to allow it to start softening.
  • Remove the cups from the freezer and carefully spoon in the orange sherbet now, filling the cups about 2/3 full, and again, smoothing out the top. Wipe the excess on the inside of the cups with a paper towel. Place the cups back in the freezer for 5-10 minutes.
  • Remove the cups from the freezer and add the final layer of vanilla ice cream, filling the cups within 1/2 inch from the top of the cup. Smooth out the tops again.
  • Top off your desserts with whipped cream or cool whip. Enjoy!

They have a secret Ganache topping and then a buttercream frosting on top of that. The center has a surprise, creamy, caramel cadbury egg that melts in your mouth! Yes, you will want to make these for Easter and then you will crave them all year long. 😉 Enjoy!

Cadbury Ganache Buttercream Cupcakes

Chocolate Cupcakes

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs, room temp
1 Tbs vanilla extract
1 cup chocolate chips
2 cups flour
1 Tsp baking powder
1/4 Tbs salt
3/4 cup cocoa powder
1/4 cup milk, whole 2

Chocolate Ganache

1/4 cup heavy cream
1 1/4 cup chocolate chips

Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup or cocoa powder
3 cups powdered sugar
3/4 cups heavy cream 3

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Prepare a cupcake tin with paper liners
  3. In a microwave safe bowl, melt semi-sweet chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons of milk for about 1 minute, stirring half way. Stir until chocolate chips are melted. Set to the side
  4. Cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Now add the eggs and vanilla, and beat until combined.
  6. Take the cooled melted chocolate and add to the creamed butter
  7. Begin to whisk the dry ingredients in a separate bowl, flour, baking powder, salt, and chocolate cocoa.
  8. Add the dry mix into the wet ingredients slowly alternating with adding the milk while mixing with a hand or standing mixer.
  9. Scoop batter into prepared cupcake tin, filling a little up to 3/4 of the way
  10. Take your Cadbury eggs and place them in the center pushing it downs the cake mix covers it 5
  11. Bake for 23-26 minutes, checking doneness by testing with a toothpick should be cake free
  12. Allow to cool for 1 minute in the pan, then transfer to a cooling rack.

Chocolate Ganache

In a microwave safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips with the heavy cream for about 1 minute, stirring half way.

Stir until smooth and all chocolate chips have melted.

Dip the cupcake in the bowl of ganache lightly twisting in motion to cover the whole area . 6

7

Allow the cupcakes to cool before frosting. 8

Chocolate Buttercream

Beat the softened butter on its own until smooth.

Add coca chocolate and powdered sugar alternately with heavy cream until a smooth, thick texture.

If frosting is too thick, add more heavy cream, if too thin, add more powdered sugar.

Use a piping bag fitted with a medium sized tip of your choice to frost, or cut the corner off a gallon size zip-top bag filled with the frosting. 9

To frost like a pro…

Place the cupcake on a flat surface in front of you. Grasp the pastry bag from the top pushing the frosting down as you slide your hand down the pastry bag. Once you start to see frosting come out of the dip twist the top of the pastry bag tight. Use a clip or a rubber band to secure the bag.

Now begin to frost the cupcake going around in one smooth motion do not stop!

Once you have completed the first circle begin the second one onto the first one as shown below. 10

Continue this process until you have covered the whole area. Now make a small peak at the top similar to how you would serve frozen yogurt a wee little twist and bam there it is a perfect frosted cupcake like a pro!

Drizzle with fudge or caramel, you can also sprinkle with chocolate sprinkles or even more chocolate chips. The more the better! 11
