Minecraft Party
Be sure to PIN this because these are ideas you’ll more than likely want to come back and use if you get a “Minecraft party request”!
REPIN it here!
Minecraft…it’s the “IN” thing right now and if you have a kiddo then I’m pretty sure you’ve heard of it and if not, you will soon. 😉 This super duper popular game is on the forefront of most kids minds right now and you know what that means…lots of requests for Minecraft Birthday parties! Here’s the catch…it’s actually VERY hard to find Minecraft party supplies for sale so that’s where the creativity comes in! I guess you could ultimately get a bunch of boxes and paint them 😉 but below you will find a ton of cute and creative ideas we did for my son’s 7th Birthday party!
The hardest part was the cake….It turned out pretty amazing and my hubby and I spent a lot of time making it:
Basically it’s 4 boxes of cake mix (you can make it smaller and use just 2 cakes). Cut up your cakes to form a “Creeper” (I suggest using paper and cutting out a template of the size you want before cutting into your actual cakes). We did 2 layers of cake on the legs and head and used frosting (colored green with food coloring of course) to paste them together.
Then we made fondant (marshmallows, powdered sugar and water) – you can “Google” it to get tons of different videos and directions on how to make your own. Color the fondant again with food coloring and place a layer (large piece) over the whole “creeper cake” then shape and cut around edges. You will then make fondant patches for the Creeper body and get them wet with water (just a tiny bit) so it sticks to his body.
It takes some time but it’s totally worth it in my opinion, it sure put a smile on his face…
For the food….(in case you’re not familiar, some of these items are the “supplies” on Minecraft:
I got the spiders from Dollar Tree….yep, just a buck! These Spiders are really in the game too. 😉
- Creeper juice (made with green Kool-Aid + sugar and 1 liter sprite) then put in water bottles with creeper juice labels – you can Google these and print them out then use double sided sticky tape.
- Coal – Rice krispy treats (made into clumps instead of putting in the standard pan) and add black food dye until they turn black)
- Sticks – use stick pretzels
- Carrots
- Apples
- Watermelons (see how to cut Watermelons for little fingers in my post here)
- Cookies (yes, these are a supply, I even checked!) Use Chips AHOY! because they resemble them the best!
- Lava – use Colby cheese and cut into “lava squares”. We put them on toothpicks and the kiddos loved eating them that way.
*Remember, you can “Google” Minecraft Printable food labels to print out the cute labels for the food.
Minecraft Games and Crafts:
The kiddos made a picture of themselves Minecraft style! I cut up a bunch of construction paper into 1×1 inch squares. Then I cut a piece of poster board from the Dollar Store. The kiddos glued the pieces of paper on to make what they thought resembles themselves. 😉 I used duck tape to tape a popsicle stick to the back as their handle.
For the games (we did “hot apple” instead of hot potato). We also did “Pin the tail on the pig”. I made my own pig with construction paper, SUPER easy and they had a blast.
For the “blindfold” we use a “Steve” head. I just used a box I had laying around and cut pieces of paper then glued them on. Simple as can be!
Decor:
I made this Minecraft spider out of a black balloon for the body and black streamers for the legs. Then just some red construction paper cut in squares of course, for the eyes!
We had green and black balloons and streamers galore! You can tape on cut up construction paper to the balloons you are hanging to make “hanging creeper balloons”.
I used large plates from the party store to make the Creeper face on the wall!
TNT boxes made with licorice and printable boxes you can easily tape together.
And they had a BLAST!
One last thing…Elfy (you know our Elf on the Shelf) he showed up and toilet papered Talan’s room as a Birthday surprise. 😉
