Thanks for the recipe:)
You are very welcome! =) Enjoy!
Just put together chili and it seems too thick. Was the 2 cups water for the step when you add it to drain off more grease? Not clear. Thank you
No. The water is for the recipe. It goes together great! I don’t boil the meat. I enjoy the beefy flavor added with the minimal fat from a quality ground beef. It definitely has to cook for at least three hours to thicken and come together.
I add 4 cups of tomato juice and a 28 oz can of tomato purée! Turned out perfect!
I was wondering… could this be cooked in the slowcooker?
Me too! I think so…
Never mind… I found another post that had the similar recipe for the slowcooker! My apologies:)
Where did you find the slow cooker version I want to cook it in crockpot
I brown the meat and then put the browned meat and all other ingredients in the slow cooker on low for 6-8 hours.
This looks great,I love Wendy’s chili and am excited to be able to make the recipe at home 🙂
I am actually planning on cooking chili tomorrow. I think I will try doing it this way. Thanks for linking up at Tell Me About It Tuesday. I hope you will hop over and join us next week.
Wendy’s chili is pretty good. Love you got a recipe for it!
I used to love Wendy’s Chili but don’t eat fast food anymore, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like chili – lol. Thank you for linking up with us at #WWDParty – have a wonderful weekend!

Have to admit I was a little skeptical, but this is fantastic- and truly does taste like Wendy’s chilli! I put everything together, brought it to a boil and then put it into the crock pot for 4 hrs on low. Only addition I made was to add a can of mushrooms. Thanks for the recipe!
Made this chili a few weeks ago, and about to make some more tonight. So easy and so yummy! I love Wendy’s chili and I love this chili! I’m so glad I can make it and get more than a cup! 🙂 The first time I made it, it served 5 guys and 1 gal (myself) … my husband was having a boys night … and there were enough leftovers for about 3-4 more servings. I did serve it with corn chips and cheese so some of us made frito pie instead of having full bowls of chili. Tonight I will be doing the same, but for 8 people. I’m sure it’ll be plenty. Can’t wait to have more of it tonight! Thanks for the great recipe!
Oh, and one other thing. I did add some corn starch to thicken it up a little. For me it was on the liquidy side, almost exactly like wendy’s chili, but I wanted something more thicker, so I dissolved a tablespoon of cornstarch in a tablespoon or two of water, and added it in at the end to thicken it up a little and that worked like a charm! I ended up adding 3 tablespoons of cornstarch total (and the water it was dissolved in) to get it to the thickness I wanted. Hope that’s helpful info for someone out there. 🙂
I HOPE SOMEONE CAN REPLY TODAY…. I am a little confused on the ingredients. Is it calling for 2 cans (28oz each)of tomatoes, or 28oz total (14oz each)???
Is it 2 cans of 28oz or 28oz of diced tomatoes all together?
I love Wendy’s chili and can’t wait to make this version of it at home. Yummy!
Do you have the nutritional value??? 🙂
This recipe is just so good! It’s simmering on my stove as I type this:) I’m making it for the second time cuz the first time I made it, it was gone as soon as it got done! It’s so easy and delicious. I always used to love the Chili’s at Wendy’s but since I’ve gotten older I eat it less and less because even though it tastes good, the ingredients are um.. questionable lol. This homemade version tastes just like it but 100x better. It makes the whole house smell amazing. Make it trust me you won’t regret it. The recipe is perfect exactly as its stated. Thank you for sharing!!!
thanks for a great recipe! this really is the essence of wendy’s chilli. a couple suggestions for first timers: use petite diced tomatoes and if necessary use an organic ground beef as it will not yield so much fat that you will have to use the 2 cup water method. i totally missed that (time-consuming) step. I did sautee my onions and bell pepper and garlic (i used fresh) first and combined everything and let it simmer for hours. i tweaked it with the salt and pepper and sugar and winner-winner chilli dinner! delicious!
Winner winner! My little kids even liked it.
Next time on pitting tomato sauce.
I worked at Wendy’s Restaurant and made the chili. Sorry. I realize using the Wendy’s name gains you attention, but this recipe is way off. And it is missing one one the main ingredients!!!
Did you not read receipe title. It reads COPYCAT Wendy’s Chili NOT ORIGINAL! Our family LOVED this receipe and now I’m making it a second time
The chili is delivered pre-made. A teen-ager is not cooking chili at Wendy’s. Quality and taste are guaranteed by fresh orders.

I make it with ground chicken, was great!
