Just thought I’d whip something together to show you how you can quickly and easily organize your inserts!
I am going to be posting my videos throughout the day today so stay tuned if you haven’t seen them yet! 😉
RHC Reader Cindy, just sent me an email and picture of how she does almost the same thing (pictured below)…I really like her idea for those of you that get less inserts (maybe like 5 or less newspapers). Thanks, Cindy!
Here is Cindy’s email and way she does it:
“I do basically the same method as your ziploc idea but use a 21-pocket legal file case for my weekly inserts instead of the baggies. It’s clean and all-contained–I can close it up and carry it to a friend’s house if I want to. Each pocket/file is labeled by weekend. Every few months I thumb through the oldest inserts and check expiration’s. Most coupons in the same insert expire at about the same time. If there is one or two coupons I know i need and haven’t expired, i will just clip those coupons and then throw away the rest of the insert. For those coupons I do clip, printable coupons, blinkies and peelies, I have a smaller 5″x10″ 14-file accordion case that I have organized by item and in order of my grocery store…ie, paper goods, can food, cereals, pharmacy, personal items etc… I find this method much less time-intensive than clipping and filing in a binder.”
Enjoyed your video! You crack me up, never thought once about your hair! But I do wish I could have seen the dogs, the camera was too high. I am new so I haven’t seen the previous videos that had the dogs in them. Thank you for all you do, you have opened up a whole new world for me! Keep up the good work!
LOL on the last part of your video! You are so precious Sarah! I do have a question. I started couponing this past January and have used the binder method where you cut out and store ALL of the coupons. Well my binder is huge and heavy now! So, I am thinking of switching to your method where you store the ones you most likely won’t use in ziploc baggies and file the ones you most likely will in your binder. My quesion is how do you maintain the expired coupons that are being stored away in the ziploc baggies? For example, I don’t want piles of ziploc baggies of expired coupons. Will I have to go thru each individual insert and throw away the expired coupons or is there a website I can go to that will tell me which coupons are or are not expired in a particular Sunday insert? Thank you so much for EVERYTHING you do for us, you are a true jewel! : D
the expired coupons can be mail out to military familes overseas they can use them up to 6 months after the experation date contact you local uso to get more info about it.

Cindy – this method sounds easier than the way I have been doing it. Since I’m so new to this I wonder if I would fear of ‘missing out’ on a deal though…… Thank you for sharing your method and the picture (it helps to actually see the different ways of doing this)!
I enjoyed your new video….your such a doll. Thanks so much for helping us learn how to correctly do this couponing……I am going to use your method of ziplock bags…..and then once a week clip what I think I will use along with what you suggest…..maybe this way my binder wont be so thick, thanks for sharing.
I loved the video. Funny thing I was saying ” love the hair” lol. But I think I need to try this way. I actually ordered some of those coupon file folders today from that Dollardays site you posted. But the baggie thing just might work. I actually do the binder thing right now and it is becoming too much. So what I do is when I see the match up list. I have different little piles for each store I place the coupons for each store and then I take those in hand and have binder just in case.
But it does get nuts when you have these millions of coupons and I only do 3 newspapers. I am not sure how others handle it with more.
PS does anyone else have kids that are addicted to this? My son will be 14 on Saturday and OMG he is worse than I am. It is so funny, but I think it’s a good thing for his future to be money conscious.
i have a 5 1/2 year old and a 2 1/2 year old and every weekend, all they talk about is how they want to go dumpster diving to get mommy coupons and then we can go use them… lol..
Love the video, great idea! I started packing all my coupons into a recipe book but then ran out of pages, so until I order some, I’m using zip lock bags with a hole punch…lol. I think your idea sounds a lot easier though than me having to fly through my book every single time so thank you! Also, wanted to let you know…I originally found your site through Hip2Save, happy I did – your blog is adorable, super helpful and has saved me a lot. So cheers and thanks for all your hard work!
Sincerely,
Jaime 🙂

I noticed your hair. I thought to myself “is that a feather”. It is so cute. I am in Alabama so we are kind of behind on the trends. 🙂
