Please note – this recipe actually tastes just like Alfredo sauce….It is a different way of making the “traditional” alfredo but trust me, it does taste just like it…it may sound strange but I am obsessed with Alfredo and this is my favorite recipe.
This has got to be the BEST Alfredo sauce I think I have ever had and what’s crazy is that it is one of the easiest recipes I make!!! The problem with traditional Alfredo sauce is that it takes “roux” which can be kinda hard to make since if you have too high of heat or don’t mix consistently, it gets ruined in an instant. Guess what, this recipe needs NO ROUX! Yay! 🙂
My husband and I figured that this dinner cost us less than $5 because it cost $10 for everything and we only eat half (for a family of 4) so it actually makes 2 meals which makes it only $5 a meal to feed 4….um, yes PLEASE!
I promise, you will like it….do try it….it’s so easy and DELICIOUS!!!

Can’t wait to try this! When I bleed……..I bleed Afredo!
Me too!!! It’s all I really order at restaurants and let me just tell you, this is still my favorite. I cannot believe it! =)
Can anyone tell me if I can use Italian dressing instead of the pouch and how much do I use couldn’t find a pouch????
Have you tried it with frozen chicken breasts? Would it water it down too much?
Trying this tonight! Looks delish!
Made this for dinner tonight… it is so DELISH! Thank for sharing this yimmy recipe.
It’s a ‘roux,’ not ‘rue.’
I wonder too if could use frozen chicken breast?
I used frozen chicken breasts came out good! I always use frozen
I’m trying this now with frozen chicken strips. I’ll let y’all know how it comes out!
…4 years later…
The ingredient photo only show one box of noodles, while the recipe says two box. Can anyone advise me?
One box was perfect.
Thanks Michelle
How the hell is this alfredo?
Alfredo doesn’t have cream cheese or cream of chicken soup in it! A real alfredo sauce would only require cream, butter, and parmesan cheese. Why add all the extra ingredients in? Ruined a good recipe idea.
I agree. Why add all those over processed ingredients when real Alfredo is so simple? I’d hate to see the sodium content in this.
Agreed did not like at all!! I was upset that i wasted my money on it. I had to add extra ingredients just to have some flavor in it. The whole crockpot was wasted! Dont waste your money or time on this meal!!!
This was the best alfredo I’ve made and it sounds like a very odd sauce but it’s SO good. I used frozen chicken breasts and left it on while I was at work. I added some Italian Seasoning when I put the chicken back in and it was amazing. My boyfriend licked the crock pot clean with his fingers and the next day, did the same to the tupperware I sent him to work with 🙂
Has anyone tried this with a different type of pasta? I normally use penne in any pasta I make I was just wondering if I would need two boxes or one?
OK, so I’m trying this today. My sauce didn’t look as thick as is does in the picture though. We’ll see how it tastes when it’s done.
Making this right now. I added a big scoop of butter and fist full of pizza cheese (provolone, parmesan, mozzarella), parsley, garlic, and a dash of Italian seasoning. My apartment smells like heaven. My fiancee stepped out of the shower still bubbly, dripping, and lathered just to ask if it was done because he could smell it over his bodywash! Either he’s starving or there’s heaven simmering in my crock pot! I used checken breasts with rib meat hopefully two is enough but it looks great and I will let everyone knows how it turns out!!!
How did this turn out I’ve been reading the responses. I liked yours and felt I would ask you how you and your family liked it?
Holyhellfire! This was incredibly delicious, gooey, melty, cheesey, and simply perfect! My chicken was moist and flavorful and my fiancee ate himself sick, then did it all over again! Definitely a keeper recipe!!!!
Did you use the cream of chicken soup also and the cream cheese?
How long do you think it could go in the crock pot? I’m wondering if it could go for and eight hour work day in the crock pot on low?
It probably could. I make a cream cheese chicken chili that goes 8 hours on low. Can go six but the chicken is easier to shred at 8. You should be totally fine.
Should I add the boiled noodles to the sauce?
If you wanted to prep ahead of time and freeze the whole thing.. what ingredients do you think you should leave out until you cook it? And how long do you think it would take to co
Made it like this: 2 frozen chx breasts, 8 oz cream cheese, can cream of mushroom soup and 3/4 can water, 3 tblsp. italian dressing .. cooked for 4 hours on high. whisked. Added 1 jar of Prego 3 cheese alfredo sauce, shredded chicken and steamed broccolli… served over penne pasta
awesome!
Nice additions!! I may try that! Thank you!!
I have a ton of chicken breasts in my freezer and always looking for something different to cook with it. I came across this via Facebook somewhere and thought I would try it out tonight. I am making it now so it is ready by 4 tonight. I don’t have a crock pot so I am cooking it in a big pot that I would normally boil noodles in and have a lid on it. Is that okay? My husband and I and kids are really looking forward to trying this take on Alfredo sauce. We normally just do jar sauce that really never tastes all that good. Wish me luck.
My crock pot only has high or low settings. How should I cook it?
This is one of my boyfriend’s favorite meals! He likes everything I cook, but for this he made a point to ask me to make it again. It’s so easy and delicious. My crockpot only has high/low settings, and I cook mine at high for 3 hours and the chicken is perfect.
As some others have said, no, it’s not a true Alfredo sauce, but it tastes pretty close to Alfredo.
Would it be okay to freeze this meal?
Wow,this looks like it’s so easy and DELICIOUS!
Please tell me how many ounces of pasta?
Good idea!! Sounds yummy!
I made it for dinner tonight and my family loved it! It doesn’t take like alfredo sauce, but it is REALLY good!!!!
If I double this recipe, do you have any specific suggestions?
This looks amazing, but may I add 1 suggestion…use a crock pot liner! That cream cheese mixture is going to make a mess on your crock pot! I skipped them for years because I have a 7qt and they say 6.5 max, they fit my crock pot just fine! I will never cook in it again with out a liner!
Going to make this tomorrow! Thanks for the recipe!!!
I have made this a few times now after finding the recipe on your page and me, my husband, and my daughter absolutely LOVE it!!! I will definitely continue to use the recipe 🙂 Thank you!!!
I cannot get a pouch of Italian Dressing Mix where I live (Austria). What can I substitute for this? Thanks for any info you can send me.
Janet
Janet, Just use your favorite search engine (Google, bing, etc) to find a recipe for an Italian dressing mix. Basically there are some dried herbs, garlic & salt. You can look at a few recipes and hopefully find one that you’ve got everything for already!
Would I be able to get away with Italian seasoning instead of the dressing mix?
How many does this serve?
Made this recipe for dinner tonight, and it is DELICIOUS. My crockpot doesn’t have a medium setting, so I just cooked it on high and stirred it every half hour to check on it. My chicken was perfectly cooked at a little after 3hours. I also just added a few tablespoons of butter for a little more depth. But this recipe works and is super yummy! It makes a lot, so definitely going to have to freeze half of it since it’s only for 2 people.
I would be so grateful and flabbergasted to win your 300.00 Toy givewaway. Thanks for all your deals and this recipe which we are going to eat right now!
I really wanted this to be good since it was my first crockpot meal, but coming from a family who is used to South Louisiana food, we did not like the recipe at all. I think we just wished it would have tasted like traditional alfredo with more spices.
I used Italian dressing mix. Major problem?
I made this tonight and it was really good! Definitely a new favorite in this house!
making this today. Do I have to use fettuccine or can I use bow ties for the pasta? I followed the actual recipe, and based on the mixed response, I was wondering if there’s anything else I can add to make it better?
I must say that I have already cooked this dish 5 times! I love it and my family loves it. The chicken and cream cheese went into crock pot. Then I mixed the cream of chicken soups together with the Italian packet and I added 1 full can and a half to this mixture. Mixed it all up and let it sit on low for 4 hours. I also always use 2 fettuccine boxes. We serve with a box of Texas toast. I don’t know why some people are so negative towards a recipe. Give it a try you either like it or you don’t but don’t be rude about it! I give this recipe 2 thumbs up!
First recipe in my crockpot. So good! Cooked it on high for 3 hours instead. Let it sit to thicken and yum!
I wasn’t sure how this would taste using the cream of chicken soup but was pleasantly surprised! Followed exact recipe and it was great!
I absolutely love this recipe! She explains how to make it so easy! Looking for easy DIY projects and easy recipes?? check out this blog: tutorialswithtara.tumblr.com
Has anyone tried this receipe on the stove or oven?
I want to make this for a potluck. But it will be 3-4 hours after we arrive until we eat. Do you think I could shred an already cooked chicken…mix it with the sauce and put leave it in the crockpot for 4 hours? Then after the 4 hours – add already cooked pasta and it will be okay? Will the sauce be yucky from cooking so long? And I worry about adding pasta BEFORE as it may get mushy. thoughts?
I would not recommend this I just made it and it was NOT good at all !!! I had to end up making something else ….waste of time and money!!!
I’m sure this is delicious, but the simple fact is that this is not alfredo, nor even anything close. A traditional alfredo does not require a roux, as you claim. Butter, cream, and parmesan cheese are the only ingredients in a true alfredo, and it is actually extremely quick and simple to make. It usually takes me less than 10 minutes to cook. Melt the butter, pour in the milk, heat until just about to boil. and then stir in the cheese. As soon as it is melted, you are done. I would say that’s even less work than adding all of this to a crock pot and letting it cook all day.
I’m not saying your recipe wouldn’t taste decent, I’m just saying don’t try to call it something it isn’t and then claim it’s easier to make, when it really isn’t.
I made this for dinner last night… It was delicious! I was pinched for time so I boiled frozen chicken breast and then added it to the sauce. I added a half stick of butter, a handful of shredded Parmesan cheese, a little parsley, garlic salt, oregano, and crushed red pepper. I made a pound of fettuccine and this fed four adults with just a little left over. Definitely will be making it again!
Absolutely delicious! Thank you for sharing your recipe! I cooked it in the crock pot for 8 hrs on low. My family loves it!!
The only flavor in this sauce is chicken. I love Alfredo sauce, but this is frankly not it. I’m very dissapointed, I am having trouble eating one serving of pasta with this sauce.
I made this recipe once and it was delicious! I wanted to make it again but the recipe isn’t showing up now. Can you send it to me or try re-posting please?
I can’t see the recipe either. I got out all the ingredients to make it, then went to double check the recipe, I can’t find it! Now I’m panicking that I messed it up
I have all of the ingredients and went to cook but when. I got on to check there is no actual recipe just a list of ingredients. Can someone please send me a link to make the chicken Alfredo with these ingredients. I have all of these ingredients and don’t know how to cook it.
@ Kelsey, I was looking to make this tonight also. I made it about a month ago and my whole family loved it! If you know the ingredients, I remember how to make. Can you reply w/ your e-mail? I just don’t remember all ingredients as I’m having the same problem as everyone else w/ finding the actual recipe.
Can someone please share the directions I bought the ingredients but do not remember the steps…. Thank You
I can’t see it either. Wanted to make it again! 🙁
I’m making this to the recipe’s instructions, except I’m using frozen chicken and a can of cream of mushroom and one can of cream of chicken instead of 2 cans cream of chicken (forgot to get two). Otherwise, everything is the same. We will see how it turns out.
This is a wonderful fettuccine recipe – 5 stars! – and the sauce is perfectly flavored. My crock pot has only high and low settings, so I used high for 4 hours and low for 1 hours, but 6 hours on low would probably have been better. The recipe makes a lot of sauce which cooks down a little, but I didn’t need the second box of pasta, one box was plenty. Thanks for sharing this delicious recipe!
Had anyone ever done this recipe in a pressure cooker?
Made this today bc it’s faster & simpler then the one I always make and it’s good but it does not taste like chicken alfredo. Not the kind I’ve had from Olive Garden or the one I usually make.
