Crock pot Lasagna is super easy and delicious.

As I write this post, my house smells absolutely AMAZING! It could be from the homemade pasta sauce I made for the Crock pot Lasagna but the sauce cooking with the cheese, noodles, meat, garlic, onion is absolutely amazing.  icon smile Crock Pot Lasagna Recipe

YUM!

If you are needing to put this lasagna recipe together fast then I’d suggest using a store bought meat sauce instead of making your own. I love making this lasagna recipe with my homemade garlic pasta sauce though (which I’ve included a recipe for). Also, you may want to add some veggies to your crock pot lasagna (you could try zucchini or spinach!).

Enjoy…

Lasagna Ingredients:

2 lbs cooked ground hamburger meat (you could also use turkey)
1/2  onion chopped
2 jars marinara sauce (or you could make homemade, easy pasta sauce – see below for ingredients)
1/2 box lasagna noodles (uncooked)
1 (2 lb) tub ricotta cheese
2-3 cups mozzarella cheese
1 egg (beaten)
1/2 teaspoon salt

Homemade pasta Sauce Recipe:

Garlic – about 10-12 cloves
3 (15 oz cans) of Hunts tomato sauce (This is super important….in my opinion, it needs to be Hunts. I have tried other brands, organic included and although it still turns out fantastic, it doesn’t taste the same…so Hunts it is!).
1 cup Olive Oil
1/2 teaspoon Cumin
1/4 teaspoon Oregano
1/2 tablespoon Parsley flakes

ingredients Crock Pot Lasagna Recipe

Lasagna Directions:

  1. Add a little olive oil to a skillet and cook onions until caramelized
  2. Add hamburger meat to onions (season with your favorite seasonings – I use season salt, garlic, oregano and lemon juice) until browned, then add marinara sauce (see my recipe below or buy some, or make your favorite kind). Simmer while making mixture below.
  3. Combine ricotta cheese, salt, 1 cup mozzarella cheese, and egg.
  4. Spray crock pot with cooking spray,
  5. Start layering in the crock pot. Add a layer of meat (doesn’t need to be thick)
  6. Then add a layer of uncooked noodles
  7. Then a layer of the cheese mixture lasagna 2 Crock Pot Lasagna Recipe
  8. You will then repeat those layers one more time
  9. Finish with the rest of the meat sauce and 1-2 cups mozzarella cheese.
  10. Cook on low for 3 hours (low so the noodles don’t over cook)  icon wink Crock Pot Lasagna Recipe
  11. Enjoy!

Sauce Directions:

1 – Add 1 cup olive oil to pan

2 – Heat olive oil

3 – Do NOT burn the garlic, it will turn a little brown but you don’t want to burn it.

4 – Remove the “cooked” garlic and throw away….don’t worry, the flavor will still be there

5 – Add the 3 cans of tomato sauce (remember, Hunts!)

6 – Add seasonings (cumin, oregano, parsley)

Can’t wait to try this. Did you use just regular lasagna noodles or did you buy the one that says on the box no-boil, or no cook, something like that. Also I might try cottage cheese instead if the ricotta as that is what my Mom always used in her homemade lasagna & it was always great. She nor my sisters really liked the ricotta. But I am sure either would taste very close and great.

I also meant to ask you what size is your crock pot? Not sure mine will hold all this, as is is not the big one, not the small one either.

One cup of oil for the sauce? Is that correct? I can’t even imagine adding that much oil to pasta sauce. Let me know if it was a typo and what the correct amount would be. That would be a huge oily mess! LOL

  3. says

Well that is just brilliant. lasagna is one of our favorite meals, but I’ve never tried it in a crock pot before. I’ll have to give it a go!

Crock pot recipes save my sanity during the busy week of school and activities. I’m always looking for new ones to try. Thanks for sharing at Inspire Us Thursday on Organized 31.

This was mediocre at best- there was waaay too much olive oil in the tomato sauce. A few tablespoons would have sufficed. There was also a lack of seasoning too, so I added italian seasoning and crushed red pepper. Otherwise, it was easy to put together and the end result (with the tweaking was satisfactory.

with all due respect, you posted a recipe raving about this meal, included what I presume to be a typo in the ingredient list although who really knows (1 cup of evoo?), and never checked comments or bothered to respond or even correct the recipe? This is the danger in cooking random recipes found on blogs thru Pinterest. I prefer tried and true.
