DIY Coconut Whip Cream (A Healthy Alternative) 

Everybody seems to love light and fluffy whip cream for desserts or toppings. But most don’t love the calories that come with it! The good news is there is a great, easy alternative that is healthier and simple to make.  All you need is a few ingredients and a little bit of time and before you know it you’ll have light and fluffy whip cream! Check out the recipe below to make your own DIY coconut whip cream:

Ingredients Needed:

  • 1 Can of Coconut Milk (15 ounces or more depending how much you want to make)
  • 1 Teaspoon of Vanilla (Optional)
  • Hand Mixer or Stand Mixer


  1. First, leave your coconut milk in the fridge for at least 4 hours. Overnight refrigeration will give you better results if possible. Once cooled, open the can.
  2. The milk will have hardened, this is a good thing! Scoop out the hardened layers of milk and add them into the mixer or bowl.  Make sure to stop scooping when you see water, you will only need the layers of milk and not the water.
  3. Now the milk is ready to be whipped. Whip using a hand blender or mixer for 3-5 minutes on high, or until you have created soft peaks. If you would like you can add any sweeteners or vanilla to the mix now.
  4. Your whipped cream can now be served or stored in the fridge for up to 5 days!
