I had to share this b/c its an awesome idea! have been using plain johnsons baby shampoo to remove makeup for a while now after i learned it was the gentlest, but it did take a bit of work to remove it all…i m betting the addition of a tad of baby oil will be perfect!!!!!!!! thanks so much for this tip, and all of the other wonderful things you share! much love!! xoxo

I have been using baby oil forever to remove eye makeup. I always saved the baby wash to wash out my and my daughters eyes on high pollen days. Will try this though. We love DIY projects.

Just so you know, there is a typo in the above. You have typed bowel instead of bowl 😉

I used mineral oil in place of baby oil, just what I had on hand….ANXIOUS. to see how it works.
Will make some as gifts for cooking club girls, along with some other neat ideas I’ve found.
    Thanks….

An all natural alternative would be distiller water, Castile liquid soap, and almond oil.
Baby shampoo is quite drying to the skin, and full of chemicals. And the fragrance in baby oil can irritate skin and eyes as well.

Your solution sounds so much more skin friendly, Kat. The original recipe made me shudder. Mineral oil and commercial soap on my face? No thank you!

I just made some of these recently and they do a good job of removing makeup, but the batch I made for myself started growing mold after a few weeks. Any suggestions?

Make sure your hands are clean when reaching for the pads, as well as ANY time you’re dealing with your face, putting on, or taking off products. And, yes, the distilled water.

i have tried this combination before for eyemakeup removal and I gotta say, it doesn’t work as easy or as well as Coconut Oil. I have been using coconut oil for almost 2 yrs now to remove my eyemakeup and it is quick and easy. I will stick with it. You should compare and see how it works differently for you.

Coconut oil user here aswell, works fantastic as make up remover moisturizer etc etc. Not using johnson n johnson or natusan in our house anymore aftrr a skin doctor told me they r sooo full of chemicals.

I just started using coconut oil, too… I love the idea of natural. Fellow CO users, do you think that it would be possible to create a DIY jar using CO? Or do you think that the oil would solidify too much? By chance, do you think there is something else I can add to keep oil in liquid state (a natural alternative, of course)? I just like the convenience and ease, as opposed to putting oil in a little bowl and have a saran wrap cover. The above packaging is more attractive.

Use fractionated coconut oil…it is liquid and works great!

I made these for my two teen daughters for Christmas and one for myself using Johnson and Johnson baby oil and J&J baby wash. After the first use, both daughters came downstairs and said it burned the heck out of their eyes, not to mention made their skin so red, dry and itchy. So I tried it once and sure enough, J&J tear-free baby products are NOT tear-free at all! My eyes burned so bad they were bloodshot…and my face was super red and so dry and itchy my skin actually peeled. Needless to say, those all went into the trash and we started making some makeup remover/face wash using organic raw coconut oil. SO much better!!

They trick you with baby products, they’re not Tear-Free (no more tears) but they’re Tear-Free (no more breaks in the baby’s hair)… evil advertising

to someone that these kids need to be hit in the head with their Sidekicks.I agree, there’s a time and a place and a space for everything. Quick little “hey, how are you?”s and “I’m at the corner.”s can be text. Or if someone’s in an important meeting and wants to say “I love you.” or “I’m imagining your underwear” to their partner or some such nonsense, then that’s understandable. But by no means should technology monopolize communications.

My first ever quilt was made with fabrics from my scrap bin. They are 10cm squares (when I used to measure in cms!). It is a mix of every fabric that I used during the first year I started sewing and looking at it reminds me of how far I have come since that first envelope cushion and how much I love sewing and fabric now.Now I am using my scraps for hexagons and sewing them together waiting for inspiration to strike. Or for someone to buy me Hexa Go Go 😉
