Homemade Pesto Sauce

Are you a pasta lover? One of the most popular pasta sauces (besides tomato) is pesto! It’s smooth, rich and tastes so good on any pasta or vegetable dish. The only slight problem with purchasing pesto sauce is the price! A small jar can cost up to $8 dollars in store and it doesn’t usually go as far as you would think. However, there is an easy, healthier option which is to make it at home! It will take a few fresh ingredients, but you’ll be amazed at how good homemade pesto can taste. Check out the recipe below for instructions on how to make homemade pesto:

Ingredients Needed:

  • 1 1/2 Cups Of Fresh Basil
  • 1/2 Cup Of Parmesan Cheese
  • 1/3 Cup Of Olive Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons Of Water
  • Dash Of Salt
  • Jar Or Container

Instructions:

  1. Start by blending the cheese and basil leaves together in a food processor or blender.  Just enough to start mixing the ingredients.
  2. Then add the rest of the ingredients into the mixture and blend until smooth. This may take a little bit of time as it takes time for the leaves to break down.
  3. Store pesto sauce in a jar or container in the fridge. It can also be frozen! To freeze: Pour the pesto sauce into an ice cube tray and freeze till solid. Once solid, pop the cubes out and store in a Ziploc bag. These cubes can be used frozen or thawed!
