How To Make Your Herbs Last Longer

As summer comes around, our gardens are starting to fill up with beautiful flowers and savory herbs. What I find is my herbs grow faster than I can use them and they tend to go bad before I get to them. This is one method that works really great for those who can’t use their herbs right and for those who love to cook with them.

Basically, you can take any herbs you have left over (Rosemary, Sage, Thyme Etc.) and put them into an ice cube tray. Then you can add chicken broth, olive oil, wine or water and pour it over the herbs in the ice cube trays.  Once you have them all packed up, throw them in the freezer until they have be come solid. Once they have frozen you can either leave them in the tray for use or you can pop each one out and store in a large Ziploc bag. These cubes are great for use in soups, stir-frys, sauces or really anything you want to add a little extra flavor to. They keep for a long time and can be really handy when your herbs are finished growing for the season.
