How Crock Pot Cooking Saves You Time & Money
Between work, school, extra curricular activities, doctors appointments and family events, it’s sometimes hard to squeeze making dinner into the equation. Everyone wants to spend more time with their loved ones and less time in front of the oven.
But when it comes to dinner, there is a lot that goes into it; It’s a huge production when you break it down. Planning the meal. Shopping for ingredients. Prepping the food. Cooking the food. Serving the food. Cleaning up the… You get the idea. But this is a part of everyday life. Wouldn’t it be great to cut that list in half some nights? You can with a crock pot.
Using your crock pot to prepare dinner can save you time, money and maybe a little sanity too. Here’s some great reasons why I suggest using a crock pot to prepare meals for your family.
Low and slow..
Because crock pot recipes usually call for cooking longer at lower temps, you’re free to do other things. You can start your dinner in the morning and come dinner time, all you have to do is open the lid and plate it. While a lower temperature on a crock pot is much safer than a high heat oven on all day, it’s best to keep an eye on things, just in case.
Take advantage of the longer cooking process and make larger batches. If you have a larger crock pot (sizes vary, starting around 3.5 quarts and up) make several days dinners at once and freeze the leftovers. You can easily do three to four days worth of dinners in one batch. This makes dinner on nights you’re using frozen dinners a cinch.
The crock pot is a multifunctional kitchen appliance. There are many, many recipes that can be made using this product. I have seen recipes for not only soups, chili and roasts but also for cakes, breads, drinks and breakfast items. If you can make it in a crock pot to save you time, why not?
Keep more green in your wallet.
And I’m not talking about lettuce here. Using a crock pot in the summer time can help keep your utility costs down since you’re not heating the whole house with an oven or stove. Your air conditioner won’t have to work as hard to cool the house down after dinner and you’ll be thankful to have a cooler house on those scorching hot summer days.
You can also save money at the butcher’s counter in the grocery store by buying cheaper cuts of meat. By cooking at a lower temperature for a long period of time, you are turning that cheaper cut into a super delicious and tender piece of meat.
Speaking of the butcher counter, you can save more money by purchasing your meat in larger quantities. Usually you will see a discount in price for buying in larger amounts. You can also cook just the meat one night of the week and freeze enough in each portion for the following days meals. When it comes time to using it, pop it in the fridge the night before and you’ve got yourself pre cooked meat to use for dinner.
If you don’t have a crock pot yet or need to get a new one, you can get one on Amazon here for $29.92 (Reg. $49.99) + FREE shipping to get started on saving time and money; It won’t take long for this appliance to pay for itself. 😉
