It can be very exciting to spruce up your living room or bedroom with a fresh coat of paint. Not only does it refresh your surroundings, it also can completely change how your room looks. However, there is one big downside to painting the walls and ceilings. You get that strong, fresh paint odor that can be hard to fight against or mask. Luckily, there is an easy way to take away the strong smell of paint and you’ll be able to save yourself a headache from all the fumes!
When you open your can of paint, simply pour in a tablespoon of regular vanilla extract into your paint bucket. The ratio should be about 1 tablespoon per gallon of paint. Once you have added your vanilla, give the paint a really good stir making sure the vanilla mixes in smoothly with the paint. Once you have mixed in the vanilla, you should notice the paint fume smell is much less and your left with the wonderful smell of vanilla as you paint the walls. This won’t change the colour of your paint or harm it in anyways and your walls will smell of vanilla as the paint dries. Try this tip next time you paint your walls to save yourself a headache!
