Maple Brown Sugar Glaze Turns a Baked Ham Extraordinary

Maple Brown Sugar Glaze is an amazing addition to an already delicious baked ham.  I love to put this over a ham that I have put clove studded pineapple rings on, giving the ham the most amazing sweet, tangy, and savor flavor you’d ever imagine.  The leftover Maple Brown Sugar Glazed Baked Ham is perfect for ham loaf or even scalloped potatoes and ham, making this a great way to cook something once and use it several times!

Studding a Baked Ham with Cloves and Pineapple

Studding a ham is quite easy, makes a beautiful presentation, and adds a lot of flavor.  Simply cut the ham in a criss-cross pattern, 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep.  This lets the juices of the pineapple sink into the ham deeper.  Place slices of pineapple on the ham, securing them with toothpicks to keep them in place.  Stud the pineapple with cloves, 4 to 5 in each slice of pineapple.  Bake the ham as usual, and enjoy the delectable flavor on your table.

  • 1 C packed brown sugar
  • 4 T maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Mix the brown sugar and maple syrup in a small bowl until the brown sugar is moist.
  2. Spread over a ham, 30 minutes before it's completely baked. Leave uncovered and bake the last 30 minutes, allowing the glaze to melt and ooze into the ham.
  3. Serve to the ooohs and aaaaahs of your family.

Maple Brown Sugar Glazed Baked Ham Isn’t Just for Easter!

While Easter is the traditional time to eat baked ham, it’s great all year for a Sunday meal, or a meal to bring your family together.  I purchase a couple when they are on sale for Easter and toss them in the freezer for later.  It’s great to pull out a ham in the middle of summer and grill it.

 

1 C packed brown sugar

4 T maple syrup

 

Mix the brown sugar and maple syrup in a small bowl until the brown sugar is moist.

Spread over a ham, 30 minutes before it’s completely baked.  Leave uncovered and bake the last 30 minutes, allowing the glaze to melt and ooze into the ham.

Serve to the ooohs and aaaaahs of your family.
