There is something about red velvet cake that is just divine and that’s why I LOVE this next recipe..You can easily make these red velvet cookies and they taste so much like red velvet cake.

Also, these are perfect for the Holidays especially with Christmas right around the corner.  😉

Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 box Duncan Hines Red Velvet Cake Mix
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 370-degrees. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside. In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and cornstarch. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the eggs, then added cooled melted butter, lemon zest and cake mix. Mix by hand until combined.
  3. Roll into 1-inch balls. Roll each ball in the powdered sugar mixture then place on a prepared baking sheet about 2-inches apart.
  4. Bake for 7-9 minutes until set. Let cool 1 minute before removing to a wire cooling rack. Store in an airtight container.
  5. Makes about 24 cookies.

  3. This looks so good! Will it make big difference if I left out the lemon zest?

    • I made these this evening, LEAVE OUT THE LEMON ZEST! You could taste the lemon in it, and can you picture red velvet and lemon together? Not a good flavor combination, and I had to throw them away 🙁 I’m sure there’s a reason for the lemon, but I followed the recipe exactly and they were just awful.

  7. I made these and they came put awesome! The only thing that I would recommend is to flour your hands before touching the dough as it is VERY stick!

  8. Well first off I have to say absolutely love these red velvet crinkles! I also substituted Lemon cake mix for a batch and German Chocolate for another and they were awesome too! I also took basic white cake mix and added 2 packets of frosting creations flavors, Strawberry Shortcake for one batch and then used 2 packets of Cotton Candy frosting creations for another batch! Absolutely Yummy! Just thought I would pass along…
