Have you every had Sour Patch Kids? If not, you’re missing out but if you’ve had them and love them (or maybe your kiddos have) then this next recipe is for you! These unique sour patch cupcakes would be adorable for a birthday party or even a bake sale. Have fun making them and you may want to let the little ones help. 😉 Enjoy…

Sour Patch Kids Cupcakes

printIngredients (Yields 24 Cupcakes)

CUPCAKES:

  • 1 Cake Mix
  • 3 Eggs (that’s what my cake mix called for)
  • 1 cup Water (that’s what my cake mix called for)
  • 1/3 cup Vegetable Oil (that’s what my cake mix called for)

ICING:

  • 4 tbsp. milk
  • 2 cup Butter softened
  • 2 tsp Vanilla
  • 8 cup Powdered Sugar
  • Neon Food Coloring
  • 24 Sour Patch kids Candies
  • 1/8 cup Sugar
  • 1/8 cup Citric Acid (I found mine in the canning section at Walmart)

Directions:

  1. Make cupcakes according to your cake package directions. 3.jpg
  2. Let cool.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and add vanilla.
  4. Mix in the confectioners sugar one cup at a time.
  5. Beat in the milk
  6. Divide equally based on the number of colors you want to make.
  7. Mix food color into each portion to achieve the desired shade. 4.jpg
  8. Transfer icing to a large sized ziploc bag or icing/piping Bag
  9. Ice the top of each cupcake.
  10. Mix together sugar and citric acid.
  11. Dust the top of each cupcake with sugar mixture.
  12. Place 1 Sour Patch Kid on top of each cupcake.

  1. This site is getting so boring with all the recipes from Pinterest on it. If I wanted to check out things on that site, I would just go there. I come here for the deals, plus it now takes forever for this website to load with all this uninteresting stuff on here.
