I am so in love with this next recipe. This recipe is for a fun “Witch’s Brew” and guess what?! This brew actually tastes delicious! If you like whipped cream and jello then you will love this. I buy lime jello to make it green but you could actually use red for “blood”. 😉 The kids have a blast putting this together so be sure to let them help out with this one. Enjoy… P.S. – You can usually find these cauldrons at the dollar store or Target and even Walmart.

Jell-O Witch’s Cauldron
(Yeild 6 cauldrons)

Ingredients:

  • 2 boxes Lime Gelatin
  • 2 cup boiling Water
  • 1 cup cold Water
  • 8 oz Non-dairy Whipped Topping (like Cool Whip)
  • Halloween Candy Decorations 4

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl combine gelatin and boiling water.
  2. Stir until dissolved.
  3. Add cold water.
  4. Stir in half of whipped topping. 2
  5. Allow to sit for 10 minutes.
  6. Add remaining whipped topping and gently stir. You want the mixture to look foamy and bubbly.

Making Cheesy Witches Brooms Ahead of Party Time

Making Cheesy Witches Brooms in advance of your party can be tricky but it can be done.  Pretzels have a tendency to get soft when refrigerated and the cheese can’t stay out very long.  So take it halfway and cut the cheese and have it ready by laying it out on a cookie sheet or piece of wax paper.  A few minutes before your party simply make up the Cheesy Witches Brooms and tie them so they’re fresh for when your guests arrive.

 Ingredients:

  • 10 slices cheese, any soft variety, such as Muenster or Mozzarella
  • 20 pretzels (thick ones such as honey wheat work great)
  • 20 chives

 Directions:

  1. Cut the cheese slices in half, then cut “bristles” by cutting about ⅔ up the slice width-wise.
  2. Carefully wrap the solid section of the cheese around the pretzels and secure by tying a chive around it.
  3. Serve chilled.

For your next Halloween party, bring out your creative side and surprise your guests with Cheesy Witches Brooms.

Stuffed Cockroach Snacks for the Perfect Halloween Party

The right snacks make the party, and if you are having a spooky, creepy Halloween party, Stuffed Cockroach Snacks are a must!   You will know they are perfectly normal, stuffed dates, but your guests will reach for one and give out a frightening scream!  I love making Stuffed Cockroach Snacks not only for Halloween, but any time of year for a fantastic snack.

Preparing Dates for Stuffed Cockroach Snacks

Usually I purchase pitted dates for Stuffed Cockroach Snacks, but mistakenly picked up whole dates this time.  Oops!  The mistake was quickly fixed though, as dates are easy to pit with a sharp knife.  Simply slide the knife along the skin and through the meat of the date lengthwise, then open the date slightly.  The pit will be a long, oval seed in the middle of the date that you can easily remove.
