Creepy Crawly Spaghetti Spiders for a Fun Halloween Meal

Creepy Crawly Spaghetti Spiders make a fantastic Halloween season lunch or dinner.  Simple to make and a favorite of kids these little spiders are an adorable way to eat a meal that kids and adults can enjoy.  It’s  great for a dinner party to serve all your little guests and give them something that they can have fun with.  They’re simple to make and the kids can have fun making them with you.

Cooking Creepy Crawly Spaghetti Spiders

Cooking Creepy Crawly Spaghetti Spiders is pretty easy.  At first, I thought the pasta might not cook all the way through the hotdogs, but I positioned it close to the outside edge, giving it a better chance.  It was slightly chewy on the inside, but pleasantly so.  Cook the Creepy Crawly Spaghetti Spiders according to the pasta directions on the box, using the most amount of time suggested.  This will give the pasta inside the hotdogs the chance to cook properly.

Cheesy Witch Brooms Bring Whimsy to Your Halloween Treats

Halloween parties will soon be coming up and adorable treats for kids and adults will be in high demand.  Why make the same ol treat that you’ve been making year after year when you can make Cheesy Witches Brooms?  They are adorable snacks perfect for any Halloween party, and what’s even better is they are easy and inexpensive to make!  Kids will think they are adorable and adults will love the combination of cheese and salty pretzel.  There should be a hit at your next Halloween party.

Choosing Cheese for Your Cheesy Witches Brooms

Choosing cheese for your Cheesy Witches Brooms is pretty easy.  Look for varieties that are soft and pliable such as muenster, mozzarella, or even Swiss.  Swiss cheese should be a young Swiss or baby Swiss with so that there’s not as many holes in the cheese.  Hard cheeses is such as cheddars do not bend is easily and therefore are not good choices for Cheesy Witches Brooms.

Making Cheesy Witches Brooms Ahead of Party Time

Making Cheesy Witches Brooms in advance of your party can be tricky but it can be done.  Pretzels have a tendency to get soft when refrigerated and the cheese can’t stay out very long.  So take it halfway and cut the cheese and have it ready by laying it out on a cookie sheet or piece of wax paper.  A few minutes before your party simply make up the Cheesy Witches Brooms and tie them so they’re fresh for when your guests arrive.

 Ingredients:

  • 10 slices cheese, any soft variety, such as Muenster or Mozzarella
  • 20 pretzels (thick ones such as honey wheat work great)
  • 20 chives

 Directions:

  1. Cut the cheese slices in half, then cut “bristles” by cutting about ⅔ up the slice width-wise.
  2. Carefully wrap the solid section of the cheese around the pretzels and secure by tying a chive around it.
  3. Serve chilled.

For your next Halloween party, bring out your creative side and surprise your guests with Cheesy Witches Brooms.

Stuffed Cockroach Snacks for the Perfect Halloween Party

The right snacks make the party, and if you are having a spooky, creepy Halloween party, Stuffed Cockroach Snacks are a must!   You will know they are perfectly normal, stuffed dates, but your guests will reach for one and give out a frightening scream!  I love making Stuffed Cockroach Snacks not only for Halloween, but any time of year for a fantastic snack.

Preparing Dates for Stuffed Cockroach Snacks

Usually I purchase pitted dates for Stuffed Cockroach Snacks, but mistakenly picked up whole dates this time.  Oops!  The mistake was quickly fixed though, as dates are easy to pit with a sharp knife.  Simply slide the knife along the skin and through the meat of the date lengthwise, then open the date slightly.  The pit will be a long, oval seed in the middle of the date that you can easily remove.

Stuffed Cockroach Snacks for Other Times of the Year

Stuffed Cockroach Snacks aren’t just for Halloween.  You can have these wonderful snacks at any holiday.  I have stuffed them with just the nuts and rolled them in confectioner’s sugar for a sweet treat, as well as with a bit of hot pepper jelly for a sweet and spicy snack.  If you like, you can freeze Stuffed Cockroach Snacks for later too!  They will stay in a freezer for about a month and taste just as fresh as if you made them today.

1 lb pitted, whole dates

1 8 oz pkg cream cheese, softened

1 C finely chopped pecans

In a bowl, mix the cream cheese and pecans until fully incorporated.

Fill each pitted date with the mixture, pressing closed.

Arrange on a plate or platter with the open side down.

Serve.

Refrigerate any leftovers.
