Three Ingredient Pasta Sauce has Tons of Flavor

Pasta sauce can be as complicated or as simple as you want to make it.  You don’t need a lot of ingredients to make a flavorful, delicious sauce that you’d be proud to serve to company.  I recently needed a sauce for a side dish of pasta, and realized that I had forgotten to purchase some at the store.  I checked my pantry, and sure enough, I had a jar of home canned tomatoes.  Knowing I had garlic and basil in the kitchen, I was all set for a pot of Three Ingredient Pasta Sauce.  My dinner was sure to be flavorful and beautiful!

What Makes Three Ingredient Pasta Sauce Amazing

Fresh ingredients, like basil, give a phenomenal flavor to Three Ingredient Pasta Sauce with very little effort, or cost.  Basil is an easy plant to grow in an herb garden or pot in your home, and it has a great payback: fresh flavor any time you like.  I plant several plants of basil every year, as I love it in pesto, pasta sauce, and on pizza, just to name a few of it’s uses.  Garlic is also a staple in my kitchen.  It’s a fantastic flavoring whether you use it fresh, dried, or pre-minced in a jar.  I keep all three in my kitchen for various uses, and the pre-minced came in really handy in this recipe.  Just measure and you are all set!  The tomatoes I used I canned myself.  I try to can a bushel or two every summer for use later in the year.  I can get about 20 quarts from a bushel, which I pay $10 for.  You can’t get much better than that.  In total, the pasta sauce cost less than $.75, and that was enough to feed 4.  Add in a pound of pasta for $1 and you’ve fed your family of four dinner for $1.75 with Three Ingredient Pasta Sauce.  Not bad!

Homemade Alfredo Sauce Brightens Up Average Pasta

Creamy and fresh, this Homemade Alfredo Sauce with Spinach beats the jarred sauces, hands down.  Simple ingredients meld together to become so much more than they started out to be.  But this sauce is more than just a good sauce.  Fresh baby spinach adds not only a splash of beautiful green color, but also an earthiness that only spinach can bring.

What’s Homemade Alfredo Sauce with Spinach Good For?

Um…everything!  I love Homemade Alfredo Sauce with Spinach over pasta, or to dip breadsticks in, but it’s phenomenal over grilled chicken or as an odd, but fabulous topping to a burger.  If you have a store that carries fancy pasta, like tomato or spinach, it is delicious over it.  Steamed veggies, such as broccoli, are even tastier with some homemade spinach alfredo sauce.

Don’t Fear the Homemade Alfredo Sauce with Spinach!

People think Homemade Alfredo Sauce with Spinach is so hard to make, but there’s really no mystery to it.  It’s a simple sauce that is easy to make, if you know the secrets.  I would never have tried putting cream cheese in it if I hadn’t been to a local Italian restaurant and asked about their secret to their sauce.  Cream cheese thickens, without adding a lot of extra flour, but it also adds a wonderful texture and flavor that can’t be beat!

1 lb ground beef

1/2 C butter

1 8oz brick cream cheese

1 t flour

1 pint whipping cream

1 1/2 grated Parmesan cheese

2 C baby spinach

Brown the ground beef.  Drain.

In a saucepan, melt the butter and cream cheese, whisking until smooth.

Add the flour and whisk again.

Remove from heat and whisk in cream.

Return to medium heat, whisking frequently.

Add Parmesan, whisking to incorporate.  Break up any clumps and warm until the cheese melts.

Once the cheese is incorporated, add the spinach and stir.

When the spinach is wilted, add the ground beef and stir in.

Spoon over your favorite pasta or chicken.

So don’t fear it, enjoy it!  Use this homemade alfredo sauce with spinach on your next bowl of pasta!

Crock Pot Pasta Sauce is an amazingly simple yet fabulously delicious take on a staple food for many families.  It starts out with real tomatoes, herbs, and for good measure, I threw in some Italian rope sausage.  Since it’s in a Crock Pot, I let it cook all day for an easy dinner when I got done with my running around.

Crock Pot Pasta Sauce Freezes Well

Are you looking for a recipe that is easy to make for large batches, so you can freeze some for later meals?  Crock Pot Pasta Sauce is such a recipe.  Just wait until it cools, place it in freezer containers or plastic zippy bags, and freeze.  When you would like to serve Crock Pot Pasta sauce, run some hot water over the bag then simmer for a few minutes, or microwave.  It’s the perfect “I’ve been on the go all day” meal, even weeks later!

Keep Meatballs on Hand for Reheating Crock Pot Pasta Sauce

When frozen meatballs go on sale, grab a bag or two and keep them on hand.  When you reheat Crock Pot Pasta Sauce, toss a few in to add meat to your meal.  Make sure the packaging says they are precooked, so all you need to do is heat them through with the pasta sauce.  Serve atop your favorite shape of pasta and you have an instant meal!
